10:19 pm - A Fictional Character of Your Choice
|
Iroh from Avatar. We would take native plants and make us some tea (and intoxicate us in the process). And since I know deep inside he's a dirty old man, we would havwe a great time too XD
Finally went to see Hellboy and the Golden Army. 'nuff said. It was great, I liked the darker tone of the first one, but this one was pure fun. Love Abe to dead too (who doesn't like karaoke?)

Found via wtf_nature:

(CNN) -- A dog sheltered a newborn baby abandoned by its 14-year-old mother in a field in rural Argentina until the boy was rescued, a doctor said Friday. The abandoned infant was found in a field with this dog and her newborn puppies. A resident of a rural area outside La Plata called police late Wednesday night to say that he had heard the baby crying in a field behind his house. The man went outside and found the infant lying beside the dog and its six newborn puppies, Daniel Salcedo, chief of police of the Province of Buenos Aires, told CNN. The temperature was a chilly 37 degrees, Salcedo said. The dog had apparently carried the baby some 50 meters from where his mother had abandoned him to where the puppies were huddled, police said. "She took it like a puppy and rescued it," Salcedo said. "The doctors told us if she hadn't done this, he would have died." "The dog is a hero to us." Dr. Egidio Melia, director of the Melchor Romero Hospital in La Plata, told CNN that police showed up at the hospital at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday with the baby who doctors say was only a few hours old. Though the infant had superficial scratches and bruises and was bleeding from his mouth, he was in good shape, Melia said. The next morning, the child's mother was driven by a neighbor to the hospital and told authorities the 8 pound, 13 ounce infant is hers, Melia said. The teenager was immediately given psychological treatment and was hospitalized, he said. She has said little about the incident. The child has been transferred to a children's hospital in La Plata, 37 miles from Buenos Aires.

Because he was such a great dog, he gave me so much joy, tears and laughter and left a big hole in my heart, my house (and why not, the screendoor?), I have to share some of his pics.
I regret I don't have a single picture of him and me toguether, guess that's the down of being the only one in the family with (lame!) camera skills :P

I knew last post would come back and bite me.
Toulouse is dead. Poisoned.
He was whinning because he wanted to go out and play with a bitch that was in heat. We let him. That's probably when it happened. At least he had the good sense to come back home.
Three pets in a row. Threee anonymous tombs. That's just too much. It's too unfair, it's too painful, it's just so infuriating, that there are people so awful, so cruel, so fucking stupid they take out their problems on a poor animal. I know he was a bit loud, but he was such a good boy, It's not fair. It's not.

So, yesterday I went to see my eye doctor for my semestral checkup. Lately he's been having me do a series of tests but so far hadn't changed my prescription, so I wasn't really worried. However yesterday he prescribed me some new eyedrops, aside from the ones I use on a regular basis to keep my eyes from drying out when I'm at the computer. We also discussed the possibility of cosmetic surgery in the future (I'm not really in a hurry to leave my glasses behind, but it would be great to have the choice wheter to use it or not), however the recent studies said I should wait and control the current issue before considering lasik just yet (alarm number 1).
So, like a good inter-worm I am, as soon as I got home I went into research to know what kind of new drops he had given me.
First search result: Antiglaucomatosos
*sigh*
I'm not going into discussion about what happened afterwards, needless to say I freaked out completely. I'd like to clarify that my doctor never withheld any information from me. I know I'm losing the vision in one eye, I'm dealing with it, but as soon as I saw the world glaucoma I really, really, really freaked out. Long story short, my dad, who is a doctor and contrary to myself actually knows what kind of questions I have to ask from my eye doctor, made a phone call to clarify exactly what my condition is. So far it's not glaucoma *pehw*, but I have to take this drops to control my intraocular pressure so I don't develop the condition in the future (say 4-5 years)
Ok, fine, I'm not so scared now, only very very spooked. The phonecall was made just this afternoon, so I had to spend all morning wondering, pondering and going around in circles without knowing what was going on.
Oh! And the cherry of the cake?
Since I was feeling so blue, my mom invited me to eat some japanese food (the only advantage of being a compulsive eater is I DO find confort in sushi), and when we were done we got our fortune cookies...What did mine say? "Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst"
WTF WTF WTF
P.S. My apologies to the table next to us, I hope that my fits of hysterical (not fun) laughter didn't ruin their meal
Edit: corrected some mistakes because I went back to reading my entry today and couldn't understand a word I was saying :S

10:28 pm - How lame is it...
|
That I hadn't seen "Fiddler on the Roof" until now???
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sometimes I feel like such an gay guy because I love musicals so much, but really! This was wonderful! So sad and yet so beautiful!!!
Anyway, I saw it on saturday and only got around to post it today. So I've forgotten so many of the things I wanted to say about this movie. The one that seems to have stuck in my mind is how the Sabbath Prayer song brougth tears to my eyes, because it reminded so much of how my Mum prays for my family everyday (Sailors, if you're reading this you're part of her prayers too, she worries a lot :D) I dunno, it struck me as very moving how even if the movie is set in a very different time and among people with such a different background how the basic desires are the same (protection, good fortune, but most of all Love for the children) Anyway... sniff.
I feel a little ashamed how the closest I've been to a Jew has been episodes of "The Nanny", lol, but really, it's not that I lead a sheltered life, it's just that I haven't met anyone yet (not that I go around asking people's religions upon meeting them, but still).
Lalala, had so much to say!!!! How big a dork am I that I have all this thoughts, oppinions and questions in my head but once I sit in front of the computer my mind goes blank and all I end up writting are rambblings (not that my toughts were that interesting, but still, it would be nice to show that I have more on my mind than food :P)
Seriously, is it weird that I spend an awful lot of my waking time thinking about my next meal? It's not that I anm hungry or have to scrap for my food, it's just that I'm a little obsessed with everything food-related (and I say a little because it's gotten better)
Where was I? bleh, I'm sure it'll come back to me as soon as I push the "post" button, see if it doesn't.
P.S. My iPod died on me yesterday so I'm bitting my nails off because of course I just cleaned my files cabinet and OF COURSE when I threw all the old receipts the one I needed went right into the garbage. ARGGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. So here I am without my shield from the world :(

Find Out Which Disney Girl You Are! created with QuizFarm.com |
| You scored as Tinkerbell She's sassy, she's sarcastic, and she's such a fashionista - Tinkerbell is definitely one of the rebels of the Disney girls - just like you! Sometimes that temper of yours can get you into hot water, but at least people know you're there for them in the tough spots!
Tinkerbell | | 75% | Megara | | 71% | Belle | | 63% | Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) | | 58% | Mulan | | 58% | Alice | | 54% | Violet | | 54% | Pocahontas | | 54% | Jane | | 50% | Esmerelda | | 46% | Jasmine | | 38% | Snow White | | 33% | Cinderella | | 33% | Ariel | | 13% |

Whoa! This test is almost eerie, specially since recently I've been obsessed in getting everything tinkerbell related :), lol, but yeah, that's pretty much me. I'm glad Megara's my second choice because, yeah, she's my absolute favorite :)

I knew it, I think it's a good thing, because God How I HATE Carrie! And this quiz was pretty appropiate because I was having backup of my cd's (hurray for DVD's) and found the series and watched it all over again. Still I like Miranda best, lol, I just hope over the years I've gotten a bit less commitment-phobic.
BTW, Bromwell High's on, it's a very silly show, but I do love the thick accents.
P.D. AH!!! Birthday coming soon! Too lazy to plan a party! (Who wants sushi)
P.D.2. If you leave a comment add your birthday, lol, so I can update my calendar with everyone's

9:58 pm - A little late but...NEW MEME (with answers)
|
1. Leave me a comment saying something random, like the lyrics from your current favourite song, or your favourite kind of sandwich.Something random. Whatever you like.
2. I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.
quasilover's question's:
1. Why did you decide to become a lawyer? It was a very random choice I guess. I had originally taken medical school, and although I found dissecting bodies engaging, and still love my basic phisiology (is that the correct spelling), during my first 6 months I discovered I lacked the passion and dedication needed to become a doctor. So I spent the other 6 months pondering and pondering and some more, and still I don't know what possessed me to choose Law School. I guess it helps I'm a very argumentative person, Lol, and well, fate's a funny thing, because I wanted to specialize in international trade but am currently working in criminal law, and am actually liking it.
2. Which film did you see last? (checks Mediaplayer) I saw SlingBlade this saturday, but it's my favorite so it doesn't count, lol, so Irma la Douce (1963), very funny film with Shirley Maclaine (who is one of my favorite actresses).
3. Have you ever experienced a serious accident? Thankfully no.
4. What's your favourite song? Crystal by Stevie Nicks
5. How long have you known your best friend? About 7 years ago, we were in highschool (I'M OOOOOOOOOOLD)
On another not, I've been meaning to post this since last week, but never got around it so:
I don't care if I sound corny, really, for the first time in my life I don't mind saying it at all:

4:56 pm - Anita's Amazing Multi-Fandom Friending Meme
|
Stolen (yet again) from wolf_cat's journal. Well, not stolen technically since it's an open invitation for everyone, so yeah.
The rules are simple:
- Copy the following handy form, paste it into a comment and answer the questions. If the form is restricting your chi, feel free to put whatever you like in the comment instead.
- Post your comment here.
- PIMP THIS FAR AND WIDE!1 This is crucial if this is going to be truly multi-fandom
and not a total failure.
- Make friends and influence people!
My answers:
Your name/nickname: JGoddess What are the fandoms you like best right now? Harry Potter, Naruto What other fandoms do you like? Lord of the Rings, HoND, Kim Possible, House, Sailor Moon (4ever and ever), Coupling, Rome (HBO), Gilmore Girls Any fandoms you're looking to get into? Firefly, HOuse (watch it but not as often as I'd like to), Heroes (same story) Why are you participating in this meme? Mostly I have time to spare, and it's the perfect excuse to meet new people and pimp myself (so to speak) Tell us something really awesome about you: Um... I can cook and... that's pretty much it :) Now tell us something not so awesome (but totally forgiveable) about you: Besides being commitment-phobic, very shallow. I used to bite my toenails (GROSSSSSSS!) What do you use your journal for? MOstly to enjoy myself and post many meme's, since my life is pretty boring right now What is your friending policy? Friend everyone, I'll filter later, no really. Talk to me, I'll talk to you and so on... And because this is Anita's Amazing Multi-Fandom Friending Meme, show us a picture of someone pretty:

Because I DO think he's pretty awesome with that head, lol, and felt like it :)

Another Meme! Taken from Diana_arcuri's journal (again)
 | You scored as WereWolf, WereWolf: Craving rare Meat, feeling caged, aggitated by being around people. Unable to control one's anger or temper. The person will give off symptoms of the shift. They will seem more hostile, blood thirsty, aggitated. They may even growl, bare their teeth or other animal like tendencies. In rare cases, some will physically change. Facial hair will grow thicker or darker, nails will become longer, canine's will seem longer. Embrace your wild side, for you are The Misunderstood WereWolf.

Hurricane Alert Everyone!!!
No, really, well... No classes tomorrow of thursday, which I was expecting, really, but once I they told us at work not to go tomorrow either, well, I'm starting to get spooked.
With any help it won't be worse than Stan, we'll get an awful lot of rain, that's for sure, I just hope Floresta doesn't get too flooded this time (Aniv, my prayers go to you, I'll buy you a Kayak, I promise :P).
Either way we're prepared for ther worst, flashlights ready, water ready, first aids kit ready, nothing to worry, I'm not becoming paranoic, but as my fellow sailors must know, being anal-retentive is not a choice, it's a lifestyle (did that make sense?).
In other news "La bella y el nerd" (Beauty and the Nerd) was much better than I expected, really, I've finally accepted my unhealthy attraction to geeky guys, though boyfriend and I spent a while considering which of us was the Beauty (the question remains still :S). But really, I felt sorry for the "Beauty's" because really, when you spell "decisión" and somehow manage to add an "a" somewhere, there's some brain damage to check.

Or whatever, stolen from diana_arcuri's journal (I should try to be original for once)!
| You Are A Fun Friend | You're the one who keeps your group laughing And you've always got an idea for something fun to do The party's not complete without you And you wouldn't miss it for the world |
| Your Personality is Somewhat Rare (ISTP) | Your personality type is reserved, methodical, spirited, and intense.
Only about 6% of all people have your personality, including 3% of all women and 8% of all men You are Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, and Perceiving. |
| Your Hair Should Be Red | Passionate, fiery, and sassy. You're a total smart aleck who's got the biggest personality around. |
Which is kinda funny since I once had red hair and looking back it made me look kinda shallow...

9:05 pm - Crappy Movies weekend!!!!
|
And totally unintentional, btw, but anyhow, I finally got around seeing Snakes on a Plane, and yup, it was as bad as promised and delivered all the goodes (because we all were waiting for Tinkerbell *ahem* Mary-Kate to be fed to the big boa, and Samuel L. Jackson as always was priceless. Seriously, I was giggling the entire time and actually cheered when the big boa ate the entittlement-lawyer-guy. Lol.
But it didn't end there, oh no, because "Catwoman" just happened to be on TV and I really can't resist a crappy movie on national television, and yeah, it was crappy, and yeah, it sucked, and... that's pretty much it. I did giggle at some parts (the whole bank robbery scene and teh seductive catwoman-disco-dominatrix, which was so over the top I couldn't help thinking of Josie and The Pussycats met Lola from Cherry Poptart... but I digress). But yeah, there were much more groans than anything, and it became so painful I really had to change it to Modern Marvels (Maravillas Modernas in spanish, don't remember the original name, which was about crystals, pretty neat)... But I DID like her gloves. They were cute. And I DID like Sharon Stone (how she manages to be so hot is beyond me)
Hehehe, I do ramble a lot, don't I?
Ah well, I did catch up with all the Naruto Manga (ah Shikamaru!) and spent the weekend on a basic diet of Mac&cheese, ice cream, Fritos, Sabritas, more Ice cream and my mom's famous chocolate chip cookies (famous for my, she makes them so seldom they almost became a legend :P)
Ah well, that's it I guess. I should really update more often (at least once a week) since I only need cobwebs here to complete the mood.
Ah! Before I forget, there's this meme, taken directly from pojypojy's journal:
The first 5 to comment on this post get to request a drawble of a subject/character of their choosing from me. In return, they have to post this in their journal. Post all fandoms you're willing to draw or write for.
Well, I guess my fandom's would be Harry Potter and Naruto (I so need to get out to the world), and well, as you've seen from this entry my writting isn't exactly worth a paragraph, jeje, but I can draw. So if you're brave and not afraid of dissapointment, drop a line and ask.
Ok, gonna go sleep now.

Or stop listening to so many soundtracks, lol.
At least that's what the following meme got me thinking:
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Palyer, iPod, etc) 2. Put it on shuffle 3. Press play 4. For every question, type the song that's playing 5. When you go to a new question, press the next button 6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool... and a lot of the songs fit with the setting
Opening Credits: Princess Moon
Waking Up: Sleeping Beauty - A cottage in the woods
First Day at School: Phantom of the Opera - Overture
Falling In Love: Shrek - Livin' la vida loca
Fight Song: Nobuo Uematsu - Liberi Fatali (Final Fantasy VIII)
Breaking Up: Princess Mononoke Theme song
Prom: Harvest Moon - Neil Young
Life: The Prince of Egypt - Through Heaven's Eyes
Mental Breakdown: Chicago - Mister Cellophane
Driving: Sailor Moon Songbox - Kaze mo Sora mo Kitto
Flashback: Good Charlotte - Undergrads
Getting Back Together: Armando Trovajoli - The Long Day of Vengeance

Birth of Child: Mulan - Short Hair
Final Battle: Shrek - Holding out for a Hero
Death Scene: The Rocky Horror Picture Show - The Time Warp
Funeral Song: Aladdin - The Cave of Wonders
